Project Beneficiaries

The ultimate targeted beneficiaries of the telecenter project are the communities deprived of basic opportunities to lead a reasonable lifestyle. These are basically the poorest women living in rural and semi urban parts of the country.

KIST believes that if communities are facilitated to enhance their information management skills, they will themselves develop strategies and answers for their problems. It is a way of enabling them to know where to find what they need, contrary to the conventional approach of determining for communities what they should do or have.

The project will encourage participation of all groups so as to develop all sectors equitably. Special attention will however be given to women and youth groups for they are the key groups most engaged in productive areas in the target locality.

Outreach and extension programs will be arranged to get the benefits of the project to where they are most needed. This will entail translation of the concepts into easy to understand terms so that all categories of the people, no matter their level of education, can benefit.
